Product Description

“Did you read George Smith’s column today?” That's what readers of The Anniston Star have been asking for more than 60 years. For the first time, the best of these stories are collected in one place: Southern tales of cotton-mill workers and fire-and-brimstone preachers ... war heroes and crosses on the side of the road ... peach farmers and ol' dogs ... friends, family and the long-suffering wife known as "The Blonde." These are stories written in a style you can’t learn, about people you wished you knew, from a perspective you haven’t thought of.
